Share Your Story: Presley's Promise

Meet Presley, a patient who is treated by our experts in the Center for Excellence in Foot and Center for Excellence in Hip. Learn more about her journey below.

Blog written by Presley's mom, Brandi, of McKinney, TX.

Presley, our 13-year-old daughter, has been a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children since she was just 18 days old. Born with bilateral clubfeet, hip dysplasia and given a diagnosis of arthrogryposis, she has had multiple therapies and surgeries at the hospital. Her most recent surgery was on her right hip in December 2018, and her left hip will be operated on within the year.

Scottish Rite has helped Presley to overcome so much in her life.

Not only are we incredibly grateful for everything they have done for Presley, but also for all of the other kids they serve. Scottish Rite Hospital makes difficult situations easier to handle and is one of our family's favorite places.

Presley loves the entire hospital staff – volunteers, nurses, therapists, doctors – she loves them all!  She has gone through so much in her 13 years of life, but never lets anything get her down!

Her personality is big and contagious, and I feel certain that it is that way because of the hospital. They have a special way to work with kids and make difficult experiences fun!

As a parent, Scottish Rite Hospital means comfort in knowing that my child is in the best of hands at all times. For Presley, it means she will get the help she needs AND have fun in the process. Going to the doctor isn’t always fun, but never scary when you are here!

One of Presley’s favorite activities is the golf tournament that our family started 12 years ago to give back to the hospital. We started the Presley’s Promise golf tournament in our hometown of McKinney, Texas. The goal is to give back to the hospital that has done so much for our Presley. The tournament is held in October each year and all the proceeds benefit the hospital.
