Hospital Research Selected for Presentation at International Spine Meeting

Staff from Scottish Rite Hospital are in Los Angeles, California attending the 25th International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques (IMAST). The annual conference, sponsored by the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), brings together spine surgeons from around the world to discuss the most recent advances in spine techniques and innovative research. The three-day meeting allows for collaboration, case presentations and hands-on sessions to advance the care and treatment of patients with spinal disorders.

This year, Chief of Staff Daniel J. Sucato, M.D., M.S., has been selected to present the hospital’s latest spine research. The project titled, “Two AIS Spine Surgeries on the Same Day by the Same Surgeon: Is Performance and Outcome the Same?” analyzes the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the same surgeon performing two scoliosis cases in one day. In addition, he will be a moderator for two sessions as well as giving a case presentation focused on intraoperative neuromonitoring.

“At Scottish Rite Hospital, our team of experts treat complex spine disorders which require innovative techniques for treatment options,” says Sucato. “IMAST is another international meeting that allows our staff to share our research and to learn from other specialists to improve the care at Scottish Rite Hospital. As an institution, I am proud of our progress and steady dedication to finding the best ways to care for these patients.”
