Preston, age 15, of McKinney, recently moved to North Texas and became a Scottish Rite Hospital patient last year. When Preston was 3 years old, he lost his right foot in a lawnmower accident. Since that time, he has worn a prosthesis on his lower right limb. Preston has not allowed the loss of his foot to hold him back in any way. He plays basketball and aspires to be an architect, civil engineer or member of the military. It has been a long time since he has been on the slopes. So, Preston is looking forward to the journey ahead and most of all, making new friends along the way.
About the Annual Amputee Ski Trip
February 2018 will mark the 37th anniversary of the annual Amputee Ski Trip, held each year at the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colorado. Fourteen teenage patients with limb differences receive practical recreational therapy, while also having the opportunity to grow, build confidence and bond with others similar to them.
