The Hospital Hosts Inaugural International Limb Lengthening Meeting

Scottish Rite Hospital, along with UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society, are proud to collaborate in hosting the inaugural Controversies in Pediatric Limb Reconstruction (CPLR) meeting. Co-directed by pediatric orthopedic surgeon David A. Podeszwa, M.D., and researcher Mikhail Samchukov, M.D., this two-day symposium includes leaders within this specialty to discuss the latest treatments and controversies in Blount’s disease, congenital pseudoarthrosis of the tibia, congenital femoral and tibial deficiencies, Perthes disease and bone biology.

CPLR is an international meeting including staff from Scottish Rite Hospital as well as medical professionals from North America, South America, Russia and Australia as faculty members. The meeting consists of five sessions which include focused discussions on treatment techniques and case studies within pediatric limb lengthening. Like many of the medical conferences our staff attend, this symposium gives specialists in this field the opportunity to collaborate with other innovators with the goal of advancing the care for pediatric patients with limb deformities.

“As a doctor who specializes in caring for this patient population, it is an honor to be able to host such a prestigious group of medical professionals,” says Podeszwa. “Medical staff from our hospital travel across the globe to train orthopedic surgeons on the latest techniques in limb lengthening and reconstruction. It is exciting to have those professionals here in Dallas to provide a focused discussion on how we can advance this treatment for patients worldwide.”
