My name is Shaleigh. I am 9 years old and was born with a limb difference.
The coolest thing about having a limb difference is that I get to have my very own hospital!
Dwight is my favorite person at the hospital - he is the best! He makes helper hands (prosthetics) for me and he even made me a one of a kind golf helper hand. He always makes me laugh whenever he is measuring my arm and then gives me stickers when I leave. Dwight is awesome!
I also love to get popcorn, look at the cool flying guy in the lobby and look inside the big kaleidoscope. Before we leave, my sister and I always play outside at the park. It all makes me feel warm inside.

Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is where I get to see my awesome doctors and make new friends.
The first time I ever went to Scottish Rite Hospital, I was only 4 months old. Even though I don’t remember going that time, I do remember all of the other times I’ve been there as I’ve gotten older.Dwight is my favorite person at the hospital - he is the best! I also get to go to hand camp. Hand camp is where kids with limb differences can get inspired and learn how to be brave. The counselors are also just like us and they teach us about how to do things with limb differences. It makes me happy to see how far they have gone in life and that I can also do the same thing. We get to do activities like rock climbing, cooking, science experiments and ziplining. I’ve made lots of friends at hand camp who are just like me.
When I’m there, I don’t feel different. Scottish Rite, thank you for being my hospital!
