Mady struggled with reading, comprehension and school since she was a little girl. We did tutoring, tried after school programs and finally decided that the best way to help her was to work one on one. This allowed her to complete her daily school work in a homeschool setting.
 
One day, a friend mentioned the dyslexia program at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. We didn't know much about the program, but figured we could have her tested to see if we could get any kind of help for her.
 
Following her testing, Mady ended up joining the two-year Take Flight program in the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia and Learning Disorders. She was excited because she could now learn with other kids who also had the same kinds of struggles. For two years, Mady worked with her teachers while also working on her own at home.

This clinic was a great environment for our daughter – she always enjoyed going to class and was eager to learn. 

This is Mady’s first year to be out of the program and she is currently enrolled in a two-day a week college prep academy. While she sometimes still struggles with the level of work, she now has a variety of tools that she can use, based on what she learned in her Take Flight program. I still sometimes help her out, as well as her teachers, but she is able to work independently the majority of the time. Had she not received the help that Scottish Rite Hospital provided, this level of work would probably be too challenging for her. 
 
Every person at the hospital was always happy to help and we are incredibly thankful for everyone that we came in contact with.

Scottish Rite gave us hope when everything else seemed hopeless.
