Get to Know our SRH Staff: Stacy Duckworth, Orthopedics

What is your role at the hospital?
I am an administrative assistant to Drs. Richards, Johnston, Karol, McIntosh and Ramo. I also coordinate, credential and facilitate the many international visitors who come to the hospital on a yearly basis to observe our doctors.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite for Children?
I enjoy the cheerful environment and being part of putting a smile on the faces of parents, patients and my co-workers! Most of all, I am honored to be able to attend Camp Joint Adventure as a camp counselor. For the past two summers, I have had the opportunity to witness just a portion of the joy that is provided to the patients at the hospital. During camp, the kiddos are empowered to enjoy activities that they might not otherwise get to experience, plus so much more.

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here? How long have you worked here?
I grew up in Richardson, TX and when I was 16, started working in a jewelry store. I attended North Texas State University, now known as the University of North Texas. I got married, had children and started a transcription business, so I could stay at home with my kids. I ran the business out of my house, employing six stay-at-home moms, for 25 years. I started working here almost five years ago, when electronic medical records came along. Scottish Rite for Children is a great place to have landed - I am so happy to be here!

What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
I have been chosen to be on a federal grand jury of the Northern District of Texas for 18 months and serve as the foreperson of the jury. I get to swear in various important people and the grand jury is even named after me!

What are you currently watching on TV?
Jack Ryan

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
The singer Pink

What is a fun or interesting fact about your hometown?
I attended J.J. Pearce High School, where many years after I graduated, Jessica Simpson also attended. Morgan Fairchild went to the rival high school in Richardson.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
My favorite thing to do is anything in the world with my three kids and three grandkids as well as running outdoors (which can also be accomplished while chasing grandkids).
