Get to Know our SRH Staff: Christy Liles, Special Events

What is your role at the hospital? What do you do on a daily basis?
I oversee the Special Events, Volunteer Services, Development and Guest Relations departments at the Frisco campus. Each day is always different, but it’s fun and keeps me on my toes! I love working in the community that I live in and having Scottish Rite for Children as a resource for my friends and family.

What do you enjoy most about Scottish Rite for Children?
I love the work I get to do every day and that I’m making a difference for so many kids and their families. I also enjoy the team I work with at both campuses!

What was your first job? What path did you take to get here? How long have you worked here?
My first job was actually working at Scottish Rite Hospital! I was part of the Communications department, which was only two people at that time. I worked on the hospital's publications and media relations. I left after two and a half years and then worked in various areas of public relations, community services and development at different companies. After 10 years, I had the opportunity to come back to work on events and I grabbed it! I missed working here and was excited to return. I have now been here almost 10 years.

What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
It’s been exciting to be part of the growth of our Frisco campus and planning the events we will bring to this area as well. We are adding a Frisco Bike Rodeo this spring and Cookies & Castles is coming to Frisco next December!

What are you currently watching on Netflix?
The Crown and Jack Ryan

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge. I would love to live her life for one day! (I think maybe I’ve watched too much of The Crown!)

What is a fun or interesting fact about your hometown?
I was born and raised in Lubbock, TX, which is the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll legend, Buddy Holly. We also have huge dust storms that you might also have heard about!

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?
I love spending time with my husband, Larry, and our two daughters, Abby (15) and Lexi (12). The girls keep me busy with their various activities (volleyball, horse riding, band, etc.) and we have started to do a lot of traveling as a family. I also love to support my community in various volunteer roles. I’m on the board of the Frisco Women’s League, a women’s service organization, as well as the Texas Healthcare Advisory Council. My daughters and I volunteer as well throughout the community each year.
