Scottish Rite Hospital Hosts 20th Annual Pre-Brandon Carrell Pediatric Orthopedic Symposium

For the past 20 years, the annual Pre-Brandon Carrell Pediatric Orthopedic Symposium has invited nurses and allied health professionals to explore the latest topics and treatments in pediatric orthopedics. As a pre-cursor to the 40th annual Brandon Carrell Visiting Professorship, the symposium is designed for hospital staff to educate their fellow nurses, allied health professionals and researchers.

The one-day course cultivates education and discussion for staff to learn and share best practices within their respective areas of expertise. Podium and poster presentation topics include:
  • Neurological conditions
  • Sports medicine
  • Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • Scoliosis
  • Fractures
  • Psychological management of pain
  • Camps designed to serve a medical population
  • ACL reconstruction in athletes
  • Pre-clinic huddles, bedside reporting
  • Blood transfusions in idiopathic scoliosis surgery
Our staff members’ presentations, as well as their attendance at the event, exemplifies Scottish Rite Hospital’s commitment to our three pillars – research, education and patient care. The Pre-Brandon Carrell Orthopedic Symposium allows our team to learn from one another in order to provide the best possible care to our patients.
