Get to Know our SRH Staff: Manish John, Lead Radiologic Technologist

What’s your favorite part of your job?
I love working with the patients and their families from when they come in anxious and concerned about their injury to their last follow-up when they are so happy to return to their favorite sport or activity. It feels great to be a small light during a difficult time.
What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?
Scottish Rite Hospital isn’t a hospital. It’s a big family that loves to take care people.
How long have you worked here?
I have worked at Scottish Rite Hospital for 10 years this year. My goal is to take X-rays here while holding a cane and smelling like Bengay.
What skills do you need for your job?
The ability to think outside the box, patience and compassion, a good understanding of general physics, anatomy and X-ray vision helps!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I really wanted to be 6’2”.
What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
Met my wife and married her the next day.
What kind of animal would you be?
How long is your commute?
If my Prius is fully charged, then 8 minutes.
What do you do on the drive?
I pedal really fast with my feet.
What’s the last book you read?
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (We read this book every night before going to bed.)
What is your favorite…
· Hospital event: Spring to Health (Table Tennis Champion 3 years in a row.)
· Place at the hospital: basketball court
· Food in the cafeteria: all the desserts
What made you want to work here?
I first walked in the doors of Scottish Rite Hospital as a radiology student and immediately fell in love with the people, patients and the wonderful care that that each doctor provides. After my first six-week clinical rotation I requested to come back and ten years later I am still here.
