Get to Know our SRH Staff: Amber O'Dougherty, PACS Administrator

Meet Amber O'Dougherty, our PACS Administrator who has been working at our hospital for five years. Learn more about Amber below in our #SRHstaff Spotlight:

What’s your favorite part of your job?
My co-workers are pretty great! I enjoy working with the staff here at SRH. And I learn something new just about every day (I try to anyways).

What’s your favorite thing about the hospital?
I love seeing how happy and comfortable our patients are here at SRH. I wish that for them no matter where they are.

How did you find out about the hospital?
I applied for a PRN position and never heard anything. A year later, I got a call and came in for my interview while I was on maternity leave from my full time job with Baylor.

What made you want to work here?
“Giving children back their childhood”… I mean, it doesn’t get any better than that!

What was your first job?
Pharmacy tech to radiologic technologist to PACS Administrator.

What is your favorite…
  • Hospital event: I love the Junior Volunteers Book Sale
  • Food in the cafeteria: Loaded bacon potato soup (that’s always a good day!)
  • Place in the hospital: Anyplace with a coffee machine

What’s your favorite…
  • Place to travel: Anywhere new, but my happy place is the beach.
  • Type of food: I’m definitely a meat and potatoes kind of gal!
  • TV show: Don’t judge me (my husband does), but my guilty pleasure is probably Grey’s Anatomy.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Teleportation, so I can travel and see the world on my days off.

What did you want to be when you grew up?
A veterinarian.

What’s the last book you read?
A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman

What kind of animal would you be?
An orca whale.

How long is your commute? What do you do on the drive?
It’s up to an hour now. I’ve planned on using that time to listen to a podcast and learn a new language, but I always end up listening to music on Spotify instead. Someday…

What is something people don’t know about you?
I’ve been with my high school sweetheart for over 19 years, married for 15.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Nope… just nope. I’m that bad at singing!
