Dancing and Dunking with the Dallas Mavericks in Frisco

The Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center parking lot was home to the Dallas Mavericks Basketball Academy free basketball clinic, this past weekend. Mavs ManiAAcs, Dallas Mavericks Dancers, MavsMan and Champ the mascot welcomed the crowd and kept the party going.

Skills and Drills with the Hoop Camp Coaches and our Movement Science Team

Participants of all skill and age levels enjoyed a variety of different basketball stations while the Mavs Basketball Academy Hoop Camp Coaches gave tips on technique and encouraged good habits. The main takeaway being practice, practice, practice. The Scottish Rite Movement Science team hosted an agility course including forward and backward running, lateral shuffles and direction changes all against the clock.

Shooting Hoops with Devin Harris and Salah Mejri

The highlight of the day, for many of the kids, was playing one-on-one with 7’ 2” Salah Mejri and winning prizes for shots made against him!  After a rousing round of “Ask Devin Harris Anything,” participants were able to play knockout with the 6’ 3” star, who showed his playful and competitive nature, even against kids half his size! Raffle prizes included signed memorabilia and game tickets to see the Dallas Mavericks take on the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, November 5, at the AAC.
